SHANGHAI/BEIJING – China revealed on Friday that it had secretly raised its gold reserves by three-quarters since 2003, increasing its holdings to 1054 tonnes – or a pot worth about US.9-billion – and confirming years of speculation it had been buying. Hu Xiaolian, head of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, told Xinhua news agency in an interview that the country’s reserves had risen by 454 tonnes from 600 tonnes since 2003, when China last adjusted its state gold reserves figure. The confirmation of its surreptitious stockpiling is likely to fuel market talk about Beijing’s ability to buy secretly and its ambitions for spending its nearly US-trillion pile of savings. And not just in gold: copper and other metals markets are booming thanks to China’s barely-visible hand. Speculation has gathered speed over the last year, since the tumbling dollar has threatened to weaken China’s buying power – and give it yet more reason to diversify into gold, oil and metals. Gold prices jumped on the news of Chinese buying and were up more than 1% on the day at US2.05 an ounce at 0715 GMT. When President Barack Obama sat through Tonight Show host Jay Leno making fun of Obama at the May 1 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Obama’s performance was more than adequate for the event. In this video, however, I put together a few clips to question whether Jay Leno missed an opportunity to give substantive dissenting opinions in this speaking-truth-to-power situation. Richard Phillips, an American cargo captain sacrificed his life for his crew. A true hero. Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin and Bill Cunningham went into full attack mode. They later complain about the president winning the Nobel Peace Prize, losing the Olympics and the freeing of three captured journalists. The National Tax Reform Tea Parties (Anti-Obama protests) are being held on April 15, 2009. Fox News and its hosts Beck, Hannity, Neil Cavuto, Greta Van Susteren and Geoff Jenkins were there. And to be more ridiculous, Samuel “Joe The Plumber” Wurzelbacher was at some of these events. At the September 12, 2009, tea party, a Fox News producer hyped the protesters, and it widely ridiculed by many journalists. Then later released an advertising claiming that Fox News covered the entire event, disregarding the other networks that participated. CNN and ABC News slammed the network and openly condemn the network. The president and his administration openly slammed the network, calling it “an arm of the Republican Party!” Damn it’s a shame (no, an embarrassment) to be a conservative. Obama talks, but his words cover other actions. He looks cool and calm, but he is cold and steely. He’s in a position of public service, but he sees himself as the ruler. He spoke an oath to uphold the United States Constitution … His plan is to tear it down … and he is tearing it down with the blessing of the Congressional Democrat majority and corrupt judges slipped into the court system long ago. No newspaper is investigating it. No TV news is reporting it. No one is exposing it, save one. Glenn Beck on FOX NEWS (”fair and unafraid”) is exposing treason happening under our very noses, within our very gates, in a corrupted government ripe for a Progressive take-over. And they are taking over even as you read this: “For a long time, I went, ‘how did we possibly get here’?
